Ah babyproofing, the source of much parental angst and marketing hype. Fireplaces, electrical sockets, bookshelves, bath tubs, kitchen cabinets, and so on and so forth. If there is a household danger, there is also a piece of plastic marketed towards minimizing it. There are entire catalogs devoted to them and miraculously they show up in your mailbox, without you ever knowing who sent them or where they came from. The magazines are cleverly titled with names like "One Step Ahead" and "Baby Safe." Ah, babyproofing, a joy of parenting.
And it was that joy, of bolting furniture to walls, padding corners, and covering sockets that we took part in yesterday. With Miss Baby practicing her skills, the inevitable time had come to join the throngs of anxious parents and babyproof our house. Or atleast most of it. What seemed like a quick project with a short list, turned into an all out inspection of every single hazard within these thousand square feet (and we haven't touched the basement yet). The Mommy found herself going over the myriad scenerios in her head... what if Miss Baby scaled the couch, pulled herself up the curtain using only her little hands, and started swinging on the drapery rods... are they bolted in well enough... could they pull out? Oh my. Good thing the Daddy was around though, as he was all business and proceeded to really get things done. And what a brilliant excuse to use his man tools as well. Bonus.
But amidst the sarcasm (no! the Mommy, sarcastic?), Miss Baby is actually quite the mover and shaker. She uses the bookshelf for her daily pull up session (and also talks to the books--she loves the books) and the fireplace as her jungle gym. Which is a segue into another cute Isa video... the bookshelf. Hours of entertainment there. Enjoy...

I've become addicted to tuning into the blog to see the next entry. When there isn't one, I'm nervous - because that might mean you guys took off for the weekend again. I find, I need my ISA-fix more and more. It is so wonderful to watch her growing up through your's and Phl's eyes. But, even more wonderful watching her become ISA ! ! Thanks for being so diligent at putting this together every day. My Isa-fix. Love, Gramma and Grampa S
