Books, glorious books!

I suppose it's no surprise to most of you that we like books in this family. Especially good children's books. Really, the Mommy could spend alot of time perusing the isles of the local used book store. And so it was that we came across this little gem yesterday. Kids books can be like kids toys... some of them are ordinary and predictable and blah, others are beautiful and fabulous and entertaining. These last three adjectives describe our latest favorite- Crocodile Smiles: Ten Songs of the Earth as the Animals See It written by Sara Weeks and illustrated by Lois Ehlert. As the title suggest, there are songs from the animals and as the cover suggests, some seriously beautiful illustrations... of which the Mommy tried to photograph but Miss Baby wanted to destroy. *sigh*

And what's better, after doing a little internet digging on this book, the Mommy came across a few other books illustrated by Lois Ehlert. Including Cuckoo: A Mexican Folktale and Moon Rope: A Peruvian Folktale. My word! Mis palabras! They are in even in Spanish! Oh, and guess who has a birthday coming up (shameless, that mommy is shameless)... Miss Baby? Indeed. And she likes to read too. But, speaking of birthdays, guess who has one today? The Daddy! Yes, the Daddy. Altogether now, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you...
